General guidelines for submitting an article

How to submit an article

After registering on the journal's website (https://jpp.um.ac.ir), the corresponding author of the article should fill in all the requested information in the “new article submission section” carefully.

When submitting your article, you need to upload the following files:

  1. Title page: (including Authors’ name, academic position, and affiliations in English  and Persian, Orchid ID, corresponding author’s email and phone number). The title page Should be uploaded separately from the main text.
  2. Main manuscript: (in *.doc or *.docx format) prepared according to the journal’s requested format.
  3. The manuscript should have title, abstract, keywords, introduction, material methods, results, discussion, conclusion, references in Persian and extended abstract in English.
  4. Authorship Statement Form: When submitting a manuscript to the Journal of Iranian Plant protection Research, all contributing authors are required to complete, sign, and submit an Authorship Statement Form. TThis form verifies that the manuscript submitted by the authors is an original and authentic work. It has not been published in any publication with similar content or in another language nor simultaneously submitted to other journals. All the people whose names are mentioned as authors in the manuscript should be aware of the content of the manuscript and its submission by corresponding author to this journal. Also, the corresponding author is obliged to specify authors’ contribution in preparing the manuscript.
  5. Conflicts of Interest Form: It refers to a set of circumstances in which professional judgment regarding a primary interest such as research credibility may be influenced by secondary interests such as financial gain. Disclosure of conflict of interest is an agreement or warning from the authors that they have not been paid for the research, or if they have received financial support, they have declared it by mentioning the source of payment.The purpose of the conflict of interest form is to provide information about the interests of the authors for the readers of the manuscript, which can affect how the manuscript is received.Authors should submit the conflict of interest form while submitting the article and take responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of the article.This form should be signed by all the authors and stated that the necessary permission has been received for any content in the article such as figures, tables, etc. or that no permission is required to publish the authors' work.

Manuscript Preparation

This journal accepts articles in two categories: Research Article and  Short Article. Manuscripts must be submitted as a Word document (*.doc or *.docx) for the refereeing process and should be formatted in a single column, not double column. All figures, tables, and supplementary data should be embedded and included in the main manuscript file. Moreover, all manuscripts must contain essential elements such as Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgement, and References. For articles written in Persian, authors must provide an extended abstract in English. For more information, please refer to the link provided.

Essential parts of a manuscript:Every manuscript should have abstract, keywords, introduction, materials and methods, result, discussion, conclusion, references in Persian and title and an extended abstract in English. Suggestions and acknowledgments can be added to the content of the manuscript after conclusion but it should be summarized.

Title

The title of the manuscript should be written in bold at the beginning and middle of the first page. The title should express the content of the manuscript and be fluent and brief (maximum 15 words). The Persian title, abstract and keywords (without mentioning the authors' names) should be mentioned on the first page.

Abstract

Persian abstract should be prepared in maximum 250 words. In this part, the main purpose, materials and methods, results and originality should be mentioned briefly and clearly.

Keywords

At the end of the Persian abstract, write a maximum of 5 words as keywords (in alphabetical order).

Introduction

In this part, you should introduce and justify the topic and purpose of the research, and mention briefly and sufficiently to researches conducted in this field before. The introduction should be presented in a maximum of one page.

Materials and Methods

Materials and method should be clearly stated. Also, you should prevent from complete description of the adopted methods and just mention to its references.

Results and Discussion

It includes the analysis of the results obtained in the intended research.

Tables

The title and content of the tables should be written in Persian and English, but the numbers should be written only in English. The font of the title and the contents of the table should be B Mitra, 10  for Persian and Times New Roman,10 for English. The subtitle should be written in font size 9. The title of the tables should be written at the top of them and in the middle of the line and should be descriptive of the results contained in it. Separate the title from the table number with a dash. In the entire table, only the title of the table and its number should be bold, and other parts of the table should not be presented in bold.

Figures

The quality of images and figures should be high. All figures should be included within the content of the manuscript, not submitted separately. Make sure all figures have proper resolution and size to be published in the journal. 

You should pay attention to these points about the figures:· 

  •  Each figure should have a caption that describes exactly what is shown in the figure. The figure title should be typed below the figure, not inside the figure.·  
  •  No punctuation should be used at the end of the figure title.·     
  •  All numbers and symbols used in the figure should be explained in the title of the figure.

Conclusion

The introduction, followed by a concise description of the results and discussion points, is the most crucial element of the conclusion. The conclusion section should also highlight the research's uniqueness, limitations, and recommendations for future research. Lastly, authors should present an overall summary of their research without reference to any literature. 

Acknowledgements

Acknowledgment, financial assistance and research projects with official number is one of the essential parts of the manuscript.

The names of the sponsoring organizations should be mentioned completely according to the criteria of the intended organizations. The affiliation of the sponsoring organization (if there are) should be mentioned in this section.

Abbreviations

All abbreviations and symbols used in the manuscript text should be defined at first use in the text. Abbreviations should be avoided in the abstract. Additionally, a list of all abbreviations (nomenclatures) used in the manuscript must be provided in alphabetical order.

References

All references, both in-text citations and Out-of-text citation (References), must be based on APA referencing standards. The references should be arranged first in alphabetical order, then in chronological order and also written in English. Also, authors should refer to the sources of the last ten years instead of old sources. Make sure that all sources cited in the text are included in the references. Authors should use resource management tools such as "Endnote" for citation and references. It is mandatory to insert the DOI identifier (if there is) at the end of each reference. For Persian references that have been translated into English, it is necessary to mention the phrase “In Persian” at the end of each source in parentheses.
